Did She Say Those 3 Little Words?
“I am pregnant” can sometimes be three of the most shocking and frightening words to hear. Did your partner recently tell you that she is pregnant? If your first reaction is to run, stop! You have a vital role to play.
Here are a few suggestions of things you can do:
- Schedule an appointment with First Choice to confirm her pregnancy.
- Come with her to her appointment.
- If her pregnancy is confirmed, discuss your options.
- Listen to her and understand how she’s feeling.
- Talk with her about how you feel.
- Be willing to discuss the situation with your parents and hers.
- Take responsibility.
Here are some things you should not do:
- Don’t say, “Whatever you want to do. Just take care of it.”
- Do not ghost her.
- Do not pressure her to make one decision over another.
- Don’t think it’s not your responsibility.
She needs to know you’ll be there for her. No one should have to decide how to handle an unexpected pregnancy alone. After all, she didn’t get there alone.
Your support can make all the difference. Let her know you’re in this together.
Can You Help Me, Too?
Our client advocates are here for both of you. We know this is a difficult time. If you are reading this page, we know you want to help her and participate in the process.
We can privately discuss your situation and offer a free options consultation. The two of you have three options: abortion, making an adoption plan, or parenting (or co-parenting). Learn about all three before making a final decision.
Your sexual health is also important to us. We offer men STD testing and treatment for chlamydia and gonorrhea, plus testing for syphilis, herpes, and HIV. There’s a small fee for STD testing.
